Recycling Protects Environment

The booming automobile industry and other related industries of late have brought with them increasing quantities of rubber waste which is one of the most common and most significant sources of environmental problems. This results in ozone layer depletion and degradation of the environment which have now emerged as a major challenge all over the world. Rubber waste disposal is a serious problem. Recycling is the most effective solution to the problem of environmental hazards caused by the ever-rising heaps of untreated waste rubber. In the current decade, India too is facing the enormous problems of waste rubber disposal. Being a dominant global player, Fishfa has successfully analyzed and implemented the polution to manage the waste rubber problem and the associated hazards to the environment and health.

Observes Fishfa Chairman: We have won ISO 14001:2004 certification which provides us an environmental management system with specific requirements and which entitles an enterprise to follow the best At present a large limited company, the Fishfa Group has 4 units in Rajkot, Gujarat, which together offer employment to more than 500 people. Because of the organization’s focus on the environment-friendly manufacturing, the company has adopted an environment-based recycling process. The company has a production capacity of 2,000 metric tonnes a month and 95% of the capacity is utilized.

Main Products and Applications

Says the Chairman: “At Fishfa Rubbers Ltd., we make Butyl Reclaim Rubber, Natural Reclaim Rubber and Crumb Rubber through recycling rubber waste, thus preserving the natural and environmental resources. This is also an ecological as well as economic mission focusing on cost saving for customers on a global scale without compromising on quality.”

  • Butyl Reclaim Rubber, made from scraps of butyl automobile tubes, is mainly used for making butyl inner tubes, tyre inner liner, adhesives, cables, hoses, black coloured rubber products etc.
  • Natural Reclaim Rubber, made from natural rubber-based automotive tubes, finds applications in making natural rubber tubes for bicycles, 2-3 wheelers, light motor vehicles, trucks, besides in making automobile
extruded parts, moulded rubber product, other extruded products, adhesives etc.
  • Crumb Rubber is made from used whole tyres. This is widely used for making running tracks, playground tiles, anti-fatigue mats, infill and underlay for synthetic turf fields, asphalt rubber paving etc.

Advantages of Reclaimed Rubber

  • Lower Power Consumption Resulting from Shorter Mixing Cycles.
  • Reduces Viscosity and Improves Plasticity Of Rubber.
  • Improves Physical Properties.
  • Low Calendering, Mixing and Extrusion Temperature
  • Imparts Better Ageing Properties in Rubber Products
  • Improved Penetration of Fabric and Cord
  • Increased Tack
  • Lower Swelling and Shrinking During Extrusion and Calendering
  • Improved Reversion and Ageing Performance of NR Compounds
  • Lower Raw Material Costs
  • To Accelerate Dispersion of Ingredients During Compounding
